Tip: About Setting the Price

Setting your desired price is part of advertising your product. You have to do it. Set your price at the lowest amount you are willing to accept and be prepared to take less. This may sound funny but if you really want to sell your item this is the way it works. If you don't really want to sell it, forget posting it and go to a ball game.

If you don't know how much your thingamajig is worth just remember - right now it's not worth anything!

Tip: About the Money and the Payment

The method of payment is always negotiable. There is no right or wrong way. Protect yourself but be reasonable - there are some risks. Prepayment with a cashier's check or company check, prior to shipment, is not unusual. I've had companies send very large payments in advance based purely on trust and goodwill. I, in-turn, have done the same. If the dollar amount is large enough to cripple you should things turn sour, or you "just don't feel good" about things, you may want to discuss using an escrow service to hold the money until the shipment arrives. Other alternatives include down payments with the balance due on delivery. Don't be shy about telling the other party what you want.

Tip: About Integrity

All self-help books written by successful people say "the key to success is integrity". This fact is inescapable and in sales you come out ahead, every time, if you do not misrepresent your product. Trust me on this.
